FSU’s Dalvin Cook looking good to play Saturday against Miami

Florida State running back Dalvin Cook returned to practice on Thursday after being held out with a sore hamstring earlier in the week. It’s a great step in the right direction for the dynamic playmaker, who looks like a go for Saturday’s big matchup at home against Miami.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher said Cook was making “good progress” during his weekly radio show, per Brendan Sonnone of the Orlando Sentinel, and added, “I don’t ever count Dalvin out.”

Cook is undoubtedly the catalyst for Florida State’s offense, despite the arrival of dynamic quarterback Everett Golson. Averaging 8.6 yards per carry, he’s racked up 570 yards on the ground and has scored six touchdowns in four games.

Per Sonnone, Cook participated in blocking drills, took reps receiving and running behind Johnathan Vickers and Jacques Patrick, and “enthusiastically juked in between tackling dummies” at one point during the team’s stretching period.

Provided he doesn’t experience any setbacks in his recovery, it would be a surprise if Cook doesn’t suit up and play a big role in the upcoming rivalry game against the Hurricanes.
