Frank Kearse allegedly stabbed by girlfriend in domestic altercation

NFL free agent defensive lineman Frank Kearse was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend during an argument at their apartment (via The Sun Chronicle).

The injury was described as minor and Kearse was treated for abdomen wounds at a local hospital following the incident.

Kearse’s girlfriend, Dominique Hooper, pleaded innocent on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault and battery. She is reportedly free on $1,000 bail and will appear in court on September 30.

The story gets more interesting, however. Kearse originally told detectives he was accidentally injured when carrying a cardboard moving a box full of knives. Though, Hooper allegedly broke down and cried while admitting to the police that she was brandishing a knife during an argument that led to the injury.

The police reportedly arrested Hooper after investigating a scene that contained a kitchen knife with apparent dried blood on it.

Kearse was signed by the New England Patriots during free agency and released in August.

The last regular season game Kearse participated in was with the Washington Redskins in 2015.

Whether another team takes a flyer on the 27-year-old defender during a time when teams are reducing their rosters remains to be seen.

Thankfully, Kearse appears to be okay.
