Frank Clark buried Jimmy Garoppolo with savage quote after Chiefs beat 49ers in Super Bowl LIV

Frank Clark and the Kansas City Chiefs got the better of Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers during Super Bowl LIV. Then after the game, the outspoken pass rusher absolutely buried the quarterback with a damning quote.

“You paying the guy $140 million, $130 million, whatever he’s getting paid, man,” Clark told NBC Sports Bay Area. “He’s gotta throw the ball. Obviously he didn’t do that. They threw for about 200 yards on checkdowns; that ain’t enough to win a game against us.”

As the kids say, no lies detected.

When it came time to win the game in the fourth quarter, Garoppolo absolutely choked.

Overall, he finished with 219 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions on 20-of-31 passing, and the 49ers’ longest passing play was a 26-yard catch-and-run by Kendrick Bourne. Furthermore, you have to believe that Garoppolo will have nightmares about this miss.

Now, the narrative might be different if George Kittle hadn’t been hit with a highly questionable offensive pass-interference penalty late in the second quarter. But nobody can deny that Garoppolo faded when his team needed him the most in the fourth.

And given the fact that Frank Clark himself was a big reason for that, we can’t blame him for leveling a parting shot after the fact.
