Former Yankee Aaron Boone a finalist for managerial vacancy

Yankees

Looking for their next manager, the New York Yankees are turning their attention towards one of their former players, ESPN analyst Aaron Boone.

The Yankees fired Joe Girardi following their ALCS loss to the Houston Astros. Girardi had managed the team since 2008.

Boone’s MLB career also included stints with the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, then Florida Marlins, Washington Nationals, and Houston Astros. Boone is a part of one of baseball’s best known families. He and his brother Bret are both third-generation players, following in the footsteps of grandfather Ray Boone and father Bob Boone.

While Boone was only briefly a Yankee, he did indeed hit one of the most iconic home runs in franchise history. In Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, Boone hit a walk-off home run to win the game and series, defeating the rival Boston Red Sox in the process.
