The Washington Redskins informed starting linebacker Mason Foster that he is going to be released, and they did it on the day he was heading to training camp.
The roster move prompted Foster’s former Redskins teammate Chris Baker, who was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in February, to absolutely rip the organization and the NFL as a whole.
Shortly after Baker’s Twitter rant, Blake Baratz, who is Foster’s agent, called out the NFL for having “zero good faith” when it comes to how players are treated.
While this is just one player, Foster’s situation isn’t unique at all. It also highlights why the NFLPA and many players have been so outspoken about pushing for more guaranteed money in contracts — a huge sticking point for the next CBA negotiations.
