Former NBA player and Syracuse star Fab Melo dead at 26

In some sad news out of Brazil, former Syracuse star and Boston Celtics center Fab Melo has passed away. The news was first reported by New York Times contributor Adam Zagoria.

Melo starred at Syracuse from 2010-12 and was selected by Boston in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft. He played just one season in the Association, recording 1.2 points in six games before making his way overseas.

The cause of the death is not yet known, but there’s speculation that Melo suffered a heart attack in his sleep. He was just 26 years old.
