This is indeed a sad day around the baseball world. Don Zimmer, who started his MLB career as a player for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1954, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 83.

Zimmer played 11 seasons in the Majors, but is better known as a manager. He managed the San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs over the course of 13 seasons. In addition to this, Zimmer coached for 10 teams, beginning back in 1971 with the Montreal Expos.
Always known as an interesting character, Zimmer will always embody how baseball changed through the years. He was one of the last living links to the golden age of baseball. Zimmer had been with the Tampa Bay Rays organization since 2004 before his death on Wednesday.
