Former Missouri Defensive End Shane Ray Arrested on Marijuana Charges

Former University of Missouri defensive end Shane Ray, who is considered a first-round prospect heading into this week’s NFL draft, was arrested for possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana on Monday.

The information comes directly from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Considering anything up to 35 grams is considered a misdemeanor, there’s no specifics as it relates to just how much marijuana Ray had on him at the time of the stop.

It’s yet another alarming incident surrounding marijuana and a NFL draft prospect. Remember, Nebraska’s Randy Gregory failed a test for the drug at the annual combine back in February.

This also comes on the heels of a reported foot injury that was likely going to drop Ray down come Day 1 of the draft on Thursday. The latest incident could see the talented pass rusher lose out on being a first-round pick altogether.

At this point, it’s not as much about marijuana. It’s more about showing the maturity to stay out of trouble before the biggest day if Ray’s life.
