The Auburn Tigers and broader college football world are mourning the loss of one of the program’s greatest players.
It’s being reported that former Heisman winner Pat Sullivan passed away over the weekend at the age of 69.
A native of Alabama, Sullivan starred for Auburn from 1968-1971. He earned the Heisman in 1971 and finished his college career with 71 total touchdowns. At that time, it tied the all-time mark.
After being selected in the second round of the 1972 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons, Sullivan played only five seasons professionally.
Sullivan ultimately joined Auburn’s staff under Pat Dye in 1986 as the team’s quarterbacks coach before leading both TCU and Samford as the head coach.
A family man, Sullivan is survived by his wife, Jean Hicks, and three children, Kim and twins Kelly and Patrick Jr.
