More than a year after former Georgia Bulldogs starting quarterback Jacob Eason transferred to plat at home in Washington, he will now get the chance to take the field at home as a starter.
According to The Washington Times, Eason officially won the team’s competition for the starting quarterback gig and will take the field for the opener against Eastern Washington on Aug. 31.
Eason signed with Georgie as a five-star recruit from the 2016 recruiting class and quickly saw the field with 16 touchdowns and 2,430 passing yards in his freshman season. He suffered a knee injury in Georgia’s 2017 opener against Appalachian State and never reclaimed the starting job from Jake Fromm.
He transferred to Washington before the 2018 season and sat out the year with intentions on winning the quarterback job this year.
Eason could prove to be a talent upgrade over Jake Browning, who dominated in 2016 but regressed significantly the past two seasons before graduating. Washington enters the season ranked No. 13 in the country and Eason offers the potential to push this team much higher than that.
