The Florida State Seminoles have joined their SEC counterparts, the University of Florida, in cancelling their home opener this upcoming weekend due to concerns over the massive Hurricane Irma.

Florida State announced the decision on Thursday evening, as the state of Florida prepares for landfall of a hurricane that’s still a Category 5 out in the Caribbean.

“This is a football game. That’s life and death, and very critical,” Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher said about his team’s mindset, via the Orlando Sentinel. “It can be very disturbing, but our guys have handled it very well.”

The game against Louisiana-Monroe in Doak Campbell Stadium was originally scheduled at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Though, the school had moved it up earlier in the week when landfall of Irma became more imminent. Now, the team will play its second game of the season against Miami next weekend. Whether that specific game is postponed or delayed will not be known for some time.
