Florida QB Luke Del Rio forced out of Vanderbilt game with left shoulder injury

Florida Gators quarterback Luke Del Rio

Florida Gators quarterback Luke Del Rio took a huge hit in the first half Saturday against Vanderbilt that sent him to the locker room.

Del Rio landed right on his left shoulder, which he had surgically repaired last year. He stayed on the sideline for a while and then headed into the locker room with a trainer well before halftime, and based on his expression it sure seemed like he was in a high degree of pain.

Before leaving the game, Del Rio had completed 7-of-11 passes for 64 yards.

Feleipe Franks, the hero of two weeks ago when Florida beat Tennessee on a last-second Hail Mary, immediately made his presence felt. He completed a a 49-yard pass to Tyrie Cleveland before halftime that set up the game-tying field goal.

At the half, it’s all tied up at 17-17.
