Seattle Mariners starter Felix Hernandez has been sidelined since May with a lat injury. It may be a while before he returns to the mound.

It was announced on Tuesday that Hernandez is going to get an additional MRI on the injured area.

Hernandez’s rehab start on Friday was cut short due to fatigue. Hopefully the MRI will reveal no more damage. Otherwise, could be a pretty significant setback.

The Mariners are struggling. They enter Tuesday’s play at 31-45 and in last place in the AL West. So, even if the MRI reveals little to no additional damage, expect them to bring King Felix back slowly.

Hernandez struggled prior to his injury. In 38.2 innings over eight starts, he posted a 6.52 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 34 strikeouts, and only two quality starts.
