Falcons’ Michael Bennett ‘out indefinitely’ with broken ankle

Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons lost defensive lineman Michael Bennett for the foreseeable future due to a broken ankle suffered on Monday during the first practice of the summer.

Bennett was originally drafted out of Ohio State by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round back in 2015. He was placed on injured reserve as a rookie early in the season, then landed on IR in both of his next two seasons. Bennett was released in September of last year by Jacksonville before signing in Atlanta a month later.

Over the course of his career, the former Buckeye star has tallied just 16 tackles and 0.5 sack. At this point, it seems like a given that Atlanta will place Bennett on injured reserve, and likely could release him afterward.
