Formula One: Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix 2022-Practice

One of the most bombastic and recognizable personalities in motorsports has potentially found a second career in television.

Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner is perhaps the most recognizable character in the Formula 1 Drive to Surviv documentary on Netflix and now CBS is in the early stages of developing a single-camera sports sitcom alongside him.

There is no studio attached to the project, nor a principal writer, but Steiner would serve as a non-writing executive producer of a show that features a ‘Steineresque’ boss as the main character.

Steiner, who also previously served as the general manager of the short-lived Team Red Bull NASCAR team from 2006 to 2008, has enjoyed a degree of celebrity and fame alongside the Netflix series. The 58-year-old Italian has an oversized and unfiltered personality.

Along with Daniel Ricciardo, then of Red Bull Racing, Steiner helped make the show a success even without the participation of its two biggest teams in Ferrari and Mercedes. Since then, commensurate to the success of the show, every team participates but Steiner has remained a visible presence each season as a good quote is never lost on the veteran motorsports executive.
