Just days after Ronnie Harrison was traded to the Cleveland Browns, the former Jacksonville Jaguars safety is making it quite evident he is happy to no longer be with his former team.
Harrison, a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, only spent two seasons in Jacksonville. While it was a short stay, the organization clearly left an impression on him that he is happy to get away from.
Ronnie Harrison: “Relieved to be out of Jacksonville”
The Jaguars have seemingly been preparing for a total rebuild this offseason, trading defensive stars Yannick Ngakoue, Calais Campbell, A.J. Bouye and most recently sending Harrison to Cleveland for a 2021 fifth-round pick.
During his two years in Jacksonville, Harrison rarely experienced a winning atmosphere. The club won just 11 total games in the past two seasons. After settling into Cleveland and getting to know his new teammates and coaches, it’s clear Harrison is much happier.
It’s hard to blame the 23-year-old safety for taking issue with the problems in Jacksonville and calling out his former team over a perceived lack of cohesion. After all, Harrison won two national championships at Alabama and thrived in a setting where everyone was held to a high standard.
Now in Cleveland, Harrison should see plenty of snaps after the club lost Grant Delpit to a season-ending Achilles injury. While Harrison won’t make many plays, he will add depth to the secondary and should record plenty of tackles and a few pass deflections.
Given the direction the Jaguars are headed, Harrison will likely enjoy far more victories with the Browns this season than he would have experienced in Jacksonville.
