ESPN duped by fake Twitter account

Fake Twitter accounts spring up like vile weeds every year during critical times in major sports.

Some who work for the media giant ESPN were duped by a guy who goes by the name “Chaps” ran with a story he propagated, which of course turned out to be false.

The story in question was that recently freed free agent Olivier Vernon, a skilled pass rusher, was signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter appeared on “NFL Live” Wednesday to shoot down that report, admitting that some of the people at ESPN were, in fact, duped by @unclechaps.

Be warned, all ye who dwell on Twitter. Ole Chaps is lurking.
