In the aftermath of the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday at Phoenix Raceway, Erik Jones said he and Chase Briscoe probably needed to have a conversation, due to what he perceived as numerous on-track moments between them.

In real-time, Briscoe didn’t even realize there was an issue between the two of them beyond a simple four-wide racing incident that Jones ended up on the wrong end of but said he would answer the phone if it rang.

Nearly a week later, they haven’t talked but mostly because Jones was giving the situation time to cool down, while also being adamant that he still felt wronged.

“No, I haven’t today, I hope to call him this afternoon and talk,” Jones said during a Friday NASCAR media teleconference. “I don’t really like to talk early in the week. I think everybody’s still made including myself and probably Chase as well. Yeah, I hope we can come to an understanding, the frustration is there, it’s still there, right?

“We still got wrecked. I don’t think it was all on him but I think it was probably more on him than what he realized at the time. Maybe has a different opinion now. I don’t know hope to talk to him this afternoon and go into this weekend with an understanding. I don’t really like to carry things on. I don’t like to be in car fights on the race track and I just hope we can have an understanding of how we want to race going forward.”

Briscoe will be available on Saturday morning during his scheduled media time at the track at Bristol Motor Speedway.
