Free agent wide receiver Michael Crabtree met with the Baltimore Ravens on Friday, gaining a fan in that of Eric Weddle in the process.

Not subtle at all, Weddle reached out to Crabtree through Twitter to encourage him to join the Ravens.

Crabtree suddenly found himself on the free market after the Oakland Raiders released him following the signing of wideout Jordy Nelson.

This was all happening near the same time that the Ravens backed out of a deal that would bring wide receiver Ryan Grant aboard. Grant reportedly failed his physical and the Ravens were quick to schedule Crabtree for a visit after learning of his release.

Baltimore is in deep need of adding some better receivers and Crabtree fits the bill. He just spent three seasons in Oakland, averaging 848 yards and eight touchdowns per season.

We will see soon enough if Weddle gets his wish.
