Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson might have been among the best running backs to ever take to the gridiron. But he surely wasn’t what we’d call a trendsetter in the fashion industry during a football career that spanned 11 seasons.
Just as his otherworldly talent did, Dickerson’s famous goggles set him apart from others on the football field.
Now, speaking to Good Morning Football on NFL Network, it seems like Dickerson wasn’t too fond of the goggles either.
When asked if the goggles were “prescription or all style,” Dickerson responded.

“I am blind as a bat. I hated them goggles,” Dickerson said. “I hated wearing those goggles. I tried to go without them a couple times. I’d go through practice, and put contacts in. They worked. The contacts. I’d get into the game. I said ‘keep my goggles on the sideline.’ First hit, contacts pop out.”
To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time Dickerson has admitted that he hated wearing those goggles.
Though, it surely is a good thing he didn’t take the field blind. That wouldn’t have been good for anyone involved.
Dickerson started out his career with the Los Angeles Rams in 1983, putting up a league high 1,808 rushing yards.
He followed that up by breaking O.J. Simpson’s single-season rushing mark as a sophomore with 2,105 yards in 1984. The rest is pretty much history.
