Eric Dickerson doubles down: Rams would be better off without Jeff Fisher

Despite a strong effort by the Los Angeles Rams to mend fences with franchise legend Eric Dickerson, he still will not attend any games until Jeff Fisher is fired.

In an interview with ESPN Friday morning, Dickerson revealed he had a “good meeting” with team COO Kevin Demoff that lasted three hours. Demoff has been attempting to smooth things over with Dickerson since he first came out and said he was told he was not welcome on team sidelines.

The main issue Dickerson mentioned as his sticking point — the reason he will not attend any Rams games until Fisher is no longer a member of the organization — is that he felt like Fisher’s phone call to him on November 17 was “disrespectful.”

“I will not go back to the games as long as Jeff Fisher is there,” Dickerson said in the interview (h/t Pro Football Talk). “I don’t have a vendetta against Jeff at all . . . but no, I won’t, because I felt like the call to me was a very disrespectful call.”

He then doubled down on his extremely strong stance regarding Fisher and his rule over the team.

“I think this football team would do better without Jeff. That’s just my opinion,” he said. “He’s had five years to turn this team around and he’s had all losing seasons.”

Ironically, Dickerson says he’s “tired of talking about this, seriously.” Yet he’s the one who got it all started and has been more than willing to continue talking about it since last week when he first outed Fisher for telling him the team wasn’t comfortable with his criticism.

To Dickerson’s point, however, the Rams have not made any progress under Fisher. He’s set to soon be the losingest coach in NFL history and has a mark of 31-43-1 since taking over the Rams franchise in 2012. Don’t tell that to the Rams’ brass, however, who believe he’s done a “model job” leading the organization.
