The Kansas City Chiefs got a huge shot in the arm with the announcement that safety Eric Berry will return to the field on Wednesday.
The Pro Bowl safety has been cleared by doctors to begin practicing with the team after successfully battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma this past year. The Chiefs announced the joyful news on Twitter Tuesday night:
Andy Reid and Eric Berry will speak to the media following tomorrow's practice.

The news comes at the perfect time to help soften a big blow after news broke today that defensive tackle Dontari Poe underwent back surgery on July 15, will miss all of training camp and likely the start of the season recovering.
It’s not yet known how long it will be until Berry will be ready to suit up and play with his teammates when the games start to count, but this is welcome news. The fact that he’s been cleared to hit the field speaks volumes about the progress he’s made so far.
We’ll know more about where he’s at and what the plan is for him going forward after the press conference on Wednesday.
