When Quinn Ewers made the decision to stick around for another season playing quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, some thought it meant Arch Manning entering the NCAA transfer portal was inevitable. Yet, Manning hasn’t expressed any hint of bailing on Steve Sarkisian since arriving on campus as a five-star recruit.

But others have plenty of opinions on what’s best for the latest Manning quarterback set to embark on what’s sure to be a highly scrutinized college football career. Those public opinions now include Arch’s uncle, Eli Manning.

Many people just want to see Arch Manning play football, they don’t want him to sit on the bench for most of the season, as he did during his freshman year. Even when Quinn Ewers got hurt, Texas opted to put Maalik Murphy in the game instead of Manning.

But now Murphy’s transferred to Duke, making Manning the unquestioned top backup to Ewers, making him one snap away from seeing time. It’s a better situation than last year, but is it what’s best for the 18-year-old QB?

His uncle Eli Manning doesn’t have any issue with Arch’s decision to remain loyal to Texas and says there’s a reason he wanted to play for the Longhorns.

Manning saw very limited action last season at Texas, completing two of five attempts for 30 yards. Expect his playing time to increase as he goes through his second season on campus, at least playing during mop-up duty, if nothing else.
