Just how good is Eli Drinkwitz, Missouri’s football coach?

The school thinks he’s worth more than $6 million per season.

According to reports, Drinkwitz and the school agreed to a contract extension that keeps him the coach of the Tigers through 2028.

Missouri knocked off Ohio State 14-3 in the Cotton Bowl Saturday to finish 11-2. It was the first New Year’s Six bowl the Tigers have been to since the College Football Playoff era began.

Terms of the new deal weren’t announced, but it was reported he made $6 million this seaason. In November 2022, Drinkwitz the school extended his contract through 2027 and his annual salary was increased from $4 million to $6 million.

Missouri football program made strides this season

Missouri got wins over bowl teams Kansas State and Tennessee this season. Its two losses were to LSU and Georgia.

Drinkwitz was hired in 2020 after leading Appalachian State to a 12-1 record in 2019. His teams have increased its win total every season at Missouri.

Next season, in the new SEC, Missouri won’t have to play Georgia, Tennessee or Florida. They do have Alabama and newcomer Oklahoma on the schedule, but the rest of the slate is more than winnable.
