Chase Daniel has officially been released by the Philadelphia Eagles, who just one year ago signed a three-year contract with $12 million guaranteed.

Daniel wanted a chance to start, and that didn’t happen when the Eagles drafted Carson Wentz with the No. 2 overall pick last year.

Daniel is best known for finishing fourth in Heisman voting back in 2007 as a member of the Missouri Tigers. He went undrafted in 2009, signed a contract with the Washington Redskins that year and was cut before the season began. Daniel then made it onto the roster of the New Orleans Saints a year later, where he remained until 2013 when he landed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a free agent.
As a free agent last year, he signed a lucrative three-year deal worth up to $21 million. The Eagles are saving just $1 million with this roster move, which is more than offset by the signing of Nick Foles earlier on Monday.
Daniel has started just two games in his career and has attempted just 78 passes, completing 51 of them for 480 yards with a touchdown and one interception to his credit.
