Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was born into a Jewish family in Boston. His grandfather founded the General Cinema movie theater chain. So it stands to reason that the longtime owner might be interested in both film and one of the most evil figures in world history, Adolf Hitler.

Lurie is now combining both things as the executive producer for “The Meaning of Hitler,” a documentary under the umbrella of his Play/Action Pictures film company.

Lurie’s documentary comes on the heels of controversial posts from Eagles star DeSean Jackson

The wide receiver is in hot water after sharing anti-Semitic quotes that were initially attributed to Hitler. While Jackson has since apologized, his actions have created a firestorm around the NFL world.

The quotes actually came from a speech by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakha, who is widely seen as anti-Semitic.

“Because the white Jews knows that the Negroes are the real Children of Israel and to keep Americas secret the Jews will blackmail America,” one of Jackson’s posts read. “They will extort America, their plan for world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were. The white citizens of America will be terrified to know that all this time they’ve been mistreating and discriminating and lynching the Children of Israel.”

Jackson has apologized multiple times for sharing the quotes on his Instagram account. But that might not be enough.

In addition to Lurie growing up in a Jewish family, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is also of that faith.

At the very least, Jackson is going to have to educate himself on the Holocaust and other ugly examples of anti-Jewish sentiment throughout the history of the world. That’s for sure.
