Fandom can be a crazy thing. The mixed emotions. One play changing the entire feeling one might hold for his/her team. One moment defining a season.
The Philadelphia Eagles and their fans dealt with these emotions Sunday night. Driving for a potential game-winning touchdown against the Saints, this Alshon Jeffery drop ended Philadelphia’s repeat aspirations.
One Eagles fan in particular did not take the loss too swell. According to police, Kirsten Gaskins of Philadelphia was upset about the Eagles loss. How much? She attacked her girlfriend and threw couple’s dog in the microwave while the two were arguing inside a hotel following the game.
“Upset about the Philadelphia Eagles playoff loss on Sunday, a 31-year-old woman attacked her girlfriend inside their room at the Best Western hotel in Hanover Township, Northampton County, and placed the girlfriend’s dog inside a microwave,” the NY Daily News reported Monday.
Gaskins was charged with simple assault, cruelty to animals and drug paraphernalia possession — the drug charge being the least surprising of the bunch. She was arraigned and ultimately released on $20,000 bond.
“Colonial Regional police were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. Sunday to the hotel at 300 Gateway Drive and spoke to a woman who said she had just got into an argument and fight with her girlfriend,” the complaint read. “Police could see blood on the woman’s left ear and a cut on her nose and left cheek.”
The good news here? The microwave was never turned on and the dog was unharmed. Gaskins had threatened to kill the dog after an argument broke out following the Eagles’ loss.
Police directly linked the loss to this incident. Ugly stuff, ladies and germs.
