Eagles CB Ronald Darby suffered torn ACL Sunday night

The Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerback depth was tested big time Sunday night in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Said test was failed. Dak Prescott went for north of 270 yards and ate this pass defense apart in the final stanza en route to Philadelphia dropping to 4-5 on the season.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like things are going to get better on this front. No. 1 cornerback Ronald Darby reportedly suffered a torn ACL in the game and will miss the remainder of the season.

This is a dramatic blow for the defending champs. Acquired in a trade with Buffalo prior to last season, Darby has put up 21 passes defended and four interceptions in 17 games with the Eagles.

Fellow starting cornerback Jalen Mills suffered a foot injury in London prior to Philadelphia’s Week 9 bye and didn’t suit up against the Cowboys. Second-year cornerback Sidney Jones also has not played since Week 6 due to a hamstring injury.

At 4-5 on the season, Philadelphia finds itself two games behind Washington in the NFC East. With a Week 11 outing against the 8-1 New Orleans Saints on the horizon, this could be the death knell to Philadelphia’s repeat aspirations.
