Philadelphia Eagles vice president of football operations Andrew Berry is set to interview for the Cleveland Browns general manager vacancy on Friday.
Berry, who would be returning to Cleveland if hired as the Browns’ general manager, is a leading candidate in the team’s search to replace John Dorsey. Berry is expected to interview with the Carolina Panthers after the 2020 NFL Draft if he doesn’t land the position in Cleveland, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
While the Eagles denied Carolina’s request to interview Berry for the team’s executive vice president of football operations position, he could interview with the team after the draft concludes.
Berry is a 32-year-old Harvard graduate with a bachelor’s in economics and a master’s degree in computer science. After playing cornerback in college, Berry began his NFL career as a scouting assistant with the Indianapolis Colts before becoming the team’s pro scouting coordinator.
He served as the Browns’ vice president of player personnel from 2016-’18. Berry then joined the Eagles in an expanded role this season. After spending a year working with general manager Howie Roseman, Berry’s stock around the league continues to rise.
Given his background in scouting and analytics, Berry is regarded as an excellent candidate to become a general manager in the future. The only question is if it will be with the Browns this season.
