Dwyane Wade formally placed on waivers by the Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have formally placed star guard Dwyane Wade on waivers, a move the team needed to make in order to begin the process of actually buying him out. With a $23.8 million salary for the 2017-18 season — $15.8 million of which would have to be paid — it’s highly unlikely any team will pick him up off waivers.

According to The Vertical’s Shams Charania, Wade will clear waivers on Wednesday.

While the expectation all along has been that Wade will reunited with LeBron James in Cleveland, two new members of the Oklahoma City Thunder have already started recruiting the future Hall of Famer. The San Antonio Spurs are also said to be interested in his services.

Wade, 35, averaged 18.3 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting at a 43 percent clip from the field for the Bulls last season.
