Duke confirmed the signings of graduate transfers Theo John from Marquette and Bates Jones from Davidson on Friday.

Both forwards have ties to the Blue Devils.

The 6-foot-9 John played for former Duke point guard Wojciechowski at Marquette, while the 6-foot-8 Jones is the brother of current New York Giants and former Blue Devils quarterback Daniel Jones.

John averaged 8.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 27 games (26 starts) for the Golden Eagles in 2020-21. His four-year totals at Marquette included 684 points, 533 rebounds and 191 blocks in 124 games (89 starts).

Jones tallied 2.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 22 games (two starts) for Davidson last season. His four-year numbers with the Wildcats included 165 points and 183 rebounds in 96 games (five starts).

John and Jones will help the Blue Devils overhaul a roster that has seen three players enter the 2021 NBA Draft (Matthew Hurt, Jalen Johnson and DJ Steward) and four others transfer (Jordan Goldwire, Patrick Tape, Jaemyn Brakefield and Henry Coleman III).

Duke finished 13-11 in 2020-21, including a 9-9 record in the ACC. Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s squad missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1995.
