Eli Manning has retired after 16 years playing in the NFL, all with the New York Giants, and his legacy has been debated all over social media. On Thursday, future Hall of Famer Drew Brees chimed in with the perfect quote.
That’s sublime.
Manning certainly did not put up the kind of stats normally associated with Hall of Fame play in the modern era. He was largely an average quarterback for much of his career, finishing with a 60.6% completion rate while tossing 244 interceptions in 236 games played.
However, the two Super Bowls he won were won due in part to his play when it mattered most, and they were both won against the New England Patriots — the most dominant team in modern NFL history in that same stretch.
Whether you agree with it or not, chances are, Manning is going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and he may very well end up being a first-ballot inductee.
