In a Twitter post Tuesday, Hurns said it “definitely wasn’t an easy decision” to opt out. However, he made it “to do what’s best for my family…especially with a baby boy on the way.”

Many other players have made the hard choice to opt out of the 2020 NFL season due to young children in their homes as well.

Allen Hurns put up big stats when healthy with the Jaguars

Hurns, 28, was originally an undrafted rookie in 2014 out of Miami (FL). He earned a starting spot with the Jacksonville Jaguars that summer and put up 115 receptions for 1,708 yards and 16 touchdowns in his first two seasons. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his career, and he missed games in each of his next two seasons.

All told, playing six seasons for the Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins, Hurns has caught 241 passes for 3,380 yards and 25 touchdowns appearing in 82 career games.
