While the Los Angeles Dodgers have been heavily tied to relief pitchers leading up to the trade deadline, a recent loss to the rotation could now change things for the front office.

The Dodgers announced on Saturday that right-handed pitcher Ross Stripling is headed to the 10-day injured list after being diagnosed with right biceps tendinitis following a recent start.

Stripling, who experienced lingering discomfort in his neck on Friday after throwing a side session, last pitched for Los Angeles in Wednesday’s loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

The 29-year-old came out of the start after five innings with diminished velocity, though he still pitched effectively with just three hits and two runs allowed. However, tests determined that Stripling’s issues were tied to tendinitis in his biceps.

Given the injury is to his pitching arm, it’s a little more alarming than the original neck stiffness he was experiencing. While the Dodgers have plenty of options in their rotation, the team could now be more likely to explore acquiring another reliable starter.
