Generally speaking, Jordan Spieth had a successful weekend at THE PLAYERS Championship. But in more ways than one, Sunday’s 18th hole proved quite costly for Spieth.
Spieth teed off on the final hole in a tie for 17th place. Eight shots later, he tapped in for a quadruple bogey and slipped all the way down to a tie for 41st. But Spieth lost more than just 24 spots on the leaderboard. It also cost Spieth more than $100,000.
Yikes.
This is an element of golf that often gets overlooked by fans. These guys are playing for a lot of money. When things go slightly awry, it has a significant impact on their bank accounts.
