Dion Lewis has funny response to question about tenure with Eagles

Super Bowl LII will give New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis the chance to play against the team that formerly employed him. We say employed because according to Lewis himself, to say that he “played” for the Eagles would be a bit of a stretch.

Lewis was drafted by the Eagles in 2011, but was used sparingly as a back. In two seasons, he carried the ball only 36 times for 171 yards with two touchdowns. He was, however, Philadelphia’s primary kick returner in 2011, returning 31 kickoffs for 669 yards.

Still, Lewis played more for the Eagles than for either of his next two teams. He was traded from Philadelphia to the Cleveland Browns, but a fractured fibula caused him to miss the entire year in Cleveland.

After getting cut by the Browns, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts, but was cut before ever getting into a game.

Certainly the last three seasons in New England have kick-started a stalled career, and he’s been a dynamo for the AFC champs this year.
