Dez Bryant: ‘I have to’ play in 2019, ‘can’t end like this’

Dez Bryant doesn’t want the last thing people remember about his NFL journey to be that he tore his Achilles before ever hitting the field for the New Orleans Saints.

He’s extremely motivated to rehab his injury and make a return to the gridiron in 2019.

“I have to (play again). I got business and I got ball,” Bryant said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I can’t end like this. I have to throw the X up.”

His last two seasons in Dallas appeared to paint the picture of a player in decline, however. Once among the most-feared receivers in the entire league, he appeared to lack explosion and caught just 119 passes for 1,634 yards in 2016-17. However, his red-zone abilities still shined through as he hauled in 14 touchdowns in those two seasons.

The Saints are reportedly open to bringing Bryant back next year. Still just 30 years old, the once-dynamic receiver could potentially be a valuable secondary weapon for Drew Brees and Co. if he can get healthy.
