Dez Bryant wants to play NFL football in 2020, and he wants to do it as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. But the team isn’t biting…yet.

Jane Slater of NFL Network, clarifying her report, shared Thursday that Bryant has been working out at a facility next to The Star, Dallas’ practice facility, and has been texting the Cowboys wanting a workout. She also shared that Stephen Jones has acknowledged the Cowboys have gotten those texts, but that nothing has been scheduled yet.

Bryant did not play at all in 2018 or 2019. He was cut by Dallas after the 2017 season, his eighth in the NFL, and then tore his Achilles tendon in his first practice as a member of the New Orleans Saints in 2018.

Now fully healthy, Bryant is itching to get back onto the field. His 2017 season saw him catch 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns. Assuming he’s anywhere near the shape he was when he last played, Bryant can certainly be a valuable asset for a contender, if he’s willing to take a secondary role.
