Two of the best playmakers the Chicago Bears have ever featured — Devin Hester and Matt Forte — will sign one-day contracts and retire as members of the club Monday.

The Chicago Bears announced the event on Wednesday.

Forte trails only the great Walter Payton for the franchise lead in all-time rushing yards. He finished his career in Chicago with 8,602 rushing yards and 45 scores, adding another 4,116 yards (No. 7 on the franchise’s all-time receiving list) and 19 touchdowns on 487 receptions (second on Chicago’s all-time list).

Hester, of course, is a legendary return man who has 20 all-time kickoff and punt return touchdowns to his credit, No. 1 on the NFL’s all-time list by a wide margin. He took 13 punts to the house during his career with the Bears, along with five kickoff returns for scores.
