The NFL will announce that it has shortened the 2020 preseason to two games due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The inability of teams to meet in person during the offseason certainly played a role in making this decision. Though, there’s likely to be more changes coming soon.
Detroit Lions QB suggests more changes to the 2020 NFL schedule
We’re not exactly too sure what’s going on here. But Lions backup quarterback Chase Daniel responded to Wednesday’s report of a shortened preseason with this ominous quote.
“Many more changes coming than just that,” Daniel wrote on Twitter. “2020 NFL season will not be recognizable that’s for sure.”
The NFL has already released its schedule for the 2020 regular season. Does this seem to suggest that the league is going to change said schedule to take into account the growing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States?

The season will begin Sept. 10 with the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans. It’s expected to conclude with the Super Bowl being held in Tampa Bay on Feb. 7.
Though, there’s certainly a lot of moving parts here. Will fans be allowed to attend games? If so, will they be forced to sign liability waivers? What will happen if there’s a major outbreak of COVID-19 around the NFL?
As with everything else sports-related, the NFL is pretty much a victim of circumstance when it comes to the virus.
For now, there’s certainly skepticism that the 2020 NFL season will look anything like what the league had hoped in the recent past.
