Free-agent NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has not suited up in a game since the 2016 season. The National Anthem protests he started put an end to what was once a career in an upward trajectory.

Kaepernick, 32, did workout for NFL teams last year. Nothing came to fruition on that end after a rift between himself and the league.

The former Super Bowl quarterback has noted multiple times in the past that he wants to return to the NFL. And a fake report earlier on Thursday indicated that Kaepernick had signed with the New York Jets.

While that’s not the case, TMZ Sports is reporting that Kaepernick will in fact reached out to the Jets.

The former second-round pick last suited up for his original San Francisco 49ers team back in 2016. That season saw him compile 18 total touchdowns and just four interceptions.

Throughout his six-year NFL career, Kaepernick has accounted for 85 total touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He’s also put up 11 touchdowns and five interceptions in six career playoff starts.

As it relates to the Jets, they are set with Sam Darnold as their starting quarterback. Kaepernick would be an upgrade over David Fales as the team’s No. 2 signal caller. That’s for sure.
