Chargers rookie Desmond King releases children’s book with his mom

The Los Angeles Chargers selected defensive back Desmond King out of Iowa in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. They may or may not have known at the time that King is a writer. He is also now a newly published children’s book author.

King, who stands a mere 5-foot-10, teamed up with his mother, Yvette Powell, to write “I May Be Little, But I Play Big.” The paperback book sells for $12.99 and is available on Amazon.

How neat is that? King has a story to tell, and what better way to do so than to put it in writing for today’s youth to read for themselves.

King played four seasons at Iowa and tallied 14 interceptions, three touchdowns, 33 defended passes and 263 combined tackles. He also played on special teams and ranked No. 1 in the Big Ten with 26 punt returns in 2016.

Currently, the Chargers have King designated as the nickel back on the team’s depth chart.

We wish King a successful rookie season as well as success in selling his first published book. Congrats!
