The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Thursday morning that Derrick Rose will miss the remainder of the NBA season with an elbow injury.
“An MRI taken Tuesday at Mayo Clinic Square revealed a chip fracture and a loose body in his elbow. The team and Rose are currently exploring further treatment options and he is expected to miss the remainder of the season.”
During the same release, Minnesota announced Robert Covington and Jeff Teague will also be held out the rest of the season. Covington is out with a knee injury after he experienced a setback, and Teague is out with a left foot injury that required an injection to treat chronic inflammation, and a walking boot.
For Rose, this injury has to be a huge disappointment. He’s had a very good season for Minnesota, averaging 18 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, appearing in 51 games.
The 30-year-old veteran guard is set to be an unrestricted free agent after the 2018-19 season.
