Los Angeles Rams starting cornerback Derion Kendrick finds himself in some major hot water with authorities in Southern California.

According to TMZ Sports, the second-year player out of Georgia was arrested early Monday morning after the 23-year-old was pulled over for a traffic violation. During the stop, police found a gun and marijuana in his car. This comes mere hours after Kendrick helped his Rams to a win over the Arizona Cardinals in Los Angeles Sunday afternoon.

“Jail records show Kendrick was then booked at 2:14 AM PT on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon … and as of 2:30 PM PT on Monday, he remained in custody,” TMZ Sports report on Derion Kendrick’s arrest.

There was no other information available regarding Kendrick’s arrest outside of the aforementioned report that he still remained in policy custody as of Monday afternoon pacific time.

A sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Kendrick has started all six games for the Rams this season. He’s also played north of 90% of their defensive snaps with Los Angeles having completely overhauled its secondary.

The cornerback has recorded 25 tackles and three passes defended while giving up a mere 50% completion when targeted through six games.

While this arrest is unlikely to cost Kendrick a spot on the 53-man roster, he is subjected to a suspension under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

The defensive back started his college career at Clemson before being dismissed due to a history of off-field issues. He ultimately transferred to Georgia and helped them win the National Championship in 2021.

As of publication of this article, the Rams had not provided a comment regarding Kendrick’s arrest. That should come soon.
