Derek Jeter seemingly skeptical Marlins can compete soon

Miami Marlins CEO Derek Jeter

Between Derek Jeter and David Beckham, the city of Miami has some of the sporting world’s most famous owners. So, who will win a championship first? Jeter’s Miami Marlins, or Beckham’s presently unnamed MLS franchise? Jeter wouldn’t explicitly say. But based on what he said, the smart money is on the soccer team.

What would have been great for Jeter is if he bought this team with a strong players. If he only had the chance to field a team with guys like Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna, and Christian Yelich, then he may not be starting from such a hole.

Never mind.

In all seriousness, for the sake of Marlins fans, let’s hope that Jeter is not serious. The MLS franchise isn’t even set to begin until 2020. If Jeter is accurate, not only is his team bad now, but it will continue to be hopeless for at least three more seasons.
