Derek Carr ‘optimistic’ he’ll play in Week 5, will have MRI Monday

Derek Carr

The Oakland Raiders’ Week 4 loss was marred even more by the fact that quarterback Derek Carr left early with an injury. The quarterback will have an MRI on Monday, but he likes his chances of playing in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Before leaving on Sunday, Carr was 10-for-18 with 143 yards passing, a touchdown and no interceptions.

Certainly, we learned in 2016 that Carr is the most vital cog of the Oakland offense. Given that the Raiders have dropped to 2-2 after a 2-0 start, having a healthy Carr will be crucial in Week 5 and beyond, as Oakland tries to fight through a competitive AFC West.
