DeMarcus Cousins seems frustrated by Kings’ draft strategy

The Sacramento Kings had a busy first round of the 2016 NBA Draft, but did they have a good one? DeMarcus Cousins does not seem to think so.

This is a real problem. The Kings’ 2015-16 season wasn’t exactly harmonious. Getting rid of George Karl seemed to be a step towards appeasing the superstar center. They still have a long way to go.

The bigger problem is that Cousins’ reaction seems to indicate that he was left completely in the dark. Star players shouldn’t necessarily make picks, but they should have some say in the matter.

The good news for Cousins is that Sacramento’s first-round pick might be a sign that Cousins is on his way out.

Picking for the Kings, the Phoenix Suns drafted Greek center Georgios Papagiannis — a huge reach. Right-minded teams generally don’t use lottery picks to draft guys who are going to be long-term backups.

Then again, the haven’t been accurately described as a right-minded NBA team in a long time.
