As we predicted before free agency began, DeMarcus Cousins is not receiving much, if any interest from NBA teams this summer.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said on live television Tuesday that “there is not a market for him.”
Wojnarowski said that Cousins thought he could get a large, one-year deal from a team that struck out on top free agents. Instead of that, Wojnarowski is not even seeing an appetite for teams offering a mid-level exception.
This has to be tough for Cousins, who not so long ago was one of the NBA’s premier big men. Yet he has a couple of things going against him.
First, he followed up his ruptured Achilles injury with a torn quad in the playoffs and looked awfully slow and plodding when he made his return. Secondly, Cousins has developed a reputation over the years as a player that is difficult to work with.
At this point, it seems like the best scenario for Cousins might just be a return to the Bay, if the Golden State Warriors want him back.
