DeMar DeRozan, Bulls’ leading scorer, exits game with injury

Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan left Monday night’s game against the Boston Celtics in the third quarter with a right quadricep strain and will not return, the team announced.

DeRozan, who began the night with a team-leading average of 26.4 points per game, appeared to come up injured on a non-contact play in the third quarter. He initially stayed in the game but exited with 6:26 to play in the period.

In 23 minutes, he scored 13 points and added three rebounds and three assists.

A 14-year veteran, DeRozan is in his second season with the Bulls after spending nine seasons with the Toronto Raptors and three with the San Antonio Spurs. He began the night with career averages of 21 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
