Colorado head coach Deion Sanders talks Texas A&M rumors

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has been the subject of rumors about potentially moving on from Boulder after just one season.

Most of these rumors have surrounded Sanders going from college to the NFL. The Pro Football Hall of Famer has shot those down at nearly every turn.

But now, he’s the subject of a very different rumors. Following Texas A&M’s decision to fire head coach Jimbo Fisher, talk has picked up that Deion could head to College Station.

While he didn’t necessarily directly answer to these rumors, Sanders made it clear that he’s not looking to leave Colorado for another gig.

“I tell them what I told them when I came: I’m here, I’m here. I tell ‘em my mother’s here. My sister’s here. My dog is here. My daughter’s here. Three of my sons are here. My other daughter comes to darn near every home game. We’re here. I get mail here. I pay taxes here. I’m here.”

Sanders, 56, has Colorado at 4-6 on the season after coming over from Jackson State. The team opened this campaign in grand fashion, defeating Texas Christian, Nebraska and Colorado State. However, it has now lost six of seven, including a defeat at the hands of Arizona last week. The Buffs need to win one of their final two games to become bowl eligible for the first time since all the way back in 2020.

Despite Colorado’s recent struggles, Sanders has helped build a brand in Boulder. His coaching mentality and personality coupled with the star power of his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, has made the Buffs one of the biggest stories of the college football season.

As for remaining in Colorado, Sanders couldn’t be more clear about his intentions. Whether that changes if Texas A&M or an NFL team shows real interest remains to be seen.
